​INDIANAPOLIS – Carson Hocevar has won the pole for Sunday’s Brickyard 400. Hocevar completed his qualifying lap around Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 48.232 seconds (186.598 mph) to beat out his Spire Motorsports teammate Daniel Suarez, who took 48.288 seconds.Hocevar, who’s seventh in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, will lead the field to green tomorrow in search of his second career Cup win. After his first Cup win at Talladega Superspeedway in April, the 23-year-old made waves by doing his victory lap while hanging out the window of his car. Hocevar has plans for another noteworthy celebration if he takes the checkered flag on Sunday.”The grandstands are a little longer, so I could find plenty of other stuff to do,” Hocevar said. “I don’t know, I think it’ll just kind of come to me. I don’t want to say it out loud, because I think (IMS owner) Roger Penske would kill me if they knew some of the ideas I had. But also, there’s tradition here, so you gotta really watch yourself a bit.”After his Talladega win, Hocevar went on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s The Dale Jr. Download podcast and called the Indianapolis 500 the “ultimate” race he’d like to do. He reiterated that IMS is his favorite track on Saturday and said that winning the Brickyard 400 would make the Indy 500 an “easy ask” to his bosses at TWG Motorsports – which also owns IndyCar’s Andretti Global.”The prestige of this place really raises everybody’s intensity,” he said. “Everybody’s trying here, if not a little bit more, because they know how much it means to everybody.”The Brickyard 400 begins on Sunday at 2 p.m., and Hocevar will be one of the favorites to win the race after capturing the pole.Who won pole position for the NASCAR race at Indianapolis?
