New Chelsea boss Alonso provides updates on the futures of three players

Xabi Alonso has reaffirmed his desire to keep Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea this summer. Fernandez, who had been strongly linked with Real Madrid, was suspended by Chelsea for two games last season after he publicly stated a wish to live in Madrid in the future. Real Madrid issued a statement earlier this month clarifying that they have no intention of signing the Argentina midfielder, who is currently taking part in the World Cup. The club emphasized that despite the clarity of the facts and a lack of any action from Real Madrid, there has been ongoing dissemination of information that does not reflect reality. Such reporting, they argued, only fuels confusion among fans and risks harming the clubs and individuals involved.
In discussing his conversations with Fernandez, Alonso said, “We spoke, but what we spoke about remains private.” When asked whether he wants to keep Fernandez at Chelsea, the manager replied succinctly, “Yeah.”

Meanwhile, a player who appears more likely to depart Stamford Bridge this summer is Alejandro Garnacho. The winger has not yet joined Chelsea’s pre-season preparations as a move away from the club is being considered. Alonso explained, “We have spoken with the sporting directors, and there is interest from him and from other clubs, so let’s see how it develops. Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for all parties.”
Nicolas Jackson could yet remain at Chelsea, having returned from a loan spell at Bayern Munich last season. “He will join the tour in Asia, and we’re looking forward to starting with Nico at that time,” Alonso said.
