​In a few short days, the Seattle Seahawks will officially kick off the 2026 NFL season in style at Lumen Field. Seattle will host the team they vanquished in Super Bowl LX, the New England Patriots. Making it all the sweeter is the fact the team who lost to the Seahawks in the big game will have to witness them raising their championship banner. However, another Super Bowl banner won’t be the only thing raised on Wednesday night. Seattle boasts the best pregame tradition in the NFL with the ceremonial raising of the 12th Man Flag in the south end zone. Every game, a former Seahawks great, local celebrity or City of Seattle legend gets the honors of raising up the flag in front of the loudest fans in football. Wednesday’s kick off won’t just be any other for several reasons, including the fact it will be the first game under the Khosla era of ownership. Jody last raised the flag at the NFC Championship, which is what Paul did during each of the previous three times Seattle hosted that game. Having Jody Allen be the one to raise the 12 Flag to star the season would be a ceremonial bookend. She raised it at the last home game, and will do so at the most recent, which may very well be the last time she gets to do it. It will be the ultimate “passing of the torch” moment in perfect Seahawks style.
