​The New York Giants signed quarterback Jake Haener from the practice squad to the active roster and elevated two more from the practice squad, the team announced Saturday.Ahead of the Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, the Giants added some depth in an expected move. Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart (knee) out for the remainder of the season following surgery to repair his meniscus, MCL and PCL.That means veteran Jameis Winston will be the starter moving forward. However, the Giants needed to add a backup to the active roster. That’s where Haener comes in.A fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Haener was selected by the New Orleans Saints. He appeared in eight games (one start) for the Saints during the 2024 season. He completed 18-of-39 passes (46.2%) for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He’s also added 11 carries for 22 rushing yards.The Giants are expected to make some type of move to add more depth to the quarterback room. Whether that means making a trade for a veteran or plucking one out of free agency remains to be seen.In addition to signing Haener, the Giants elevated wide receiver Braxton Berrios and linebacker Malik Harrison from the practice squad.
