Newcastle’ Rebuild Plan Emerges After £100 Million Sandro Tonali Transfer

By admin — In News — July 3, 2026

Newcastle United’s summer reset has entered a decisive, no-nonsense phase. The Magpies have just authorized their second massive departure of the transfer window, agreeing to a staggering £100 million sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham. Remember, Newcastle kicked off the window by selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for nearly £70 million. According to The i Paper’s Mark Douglas, Newcastle plan to reinvest the full £100 million raised from Tonali’s move across multiple positions. Douglas noted there had long been an acceptance inside the club that Tonali would leave, with a senior insider saying the midfielder “had to go.” With that chapter closed and Tonali determined to depart, Newcastle can refocus on the real concern: strengthening a team that is fading by the day. Douglas confirmed reports that Newcastle has already agreed a transfer for Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure. He also highlighted Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara and Freiburg’s Johan Manzambi as players on Newcastle’s shortlist. On the downside, Douglas acknowledged rumors of Newcastle’s interest in Tottenham’s Archie Gray and Tottenham’s rejection of the Magpies’ approach. Douglas says the message from within the club is “no panic,” but after losing Gordon and Tonali, arrivals are urgently needed to keep the fanbase engaged.
