Cam Skattebo generated plenty of noise early last season, quickly proving his NFL draft ranking did not reflect his potential. He appeared in eight games for the New York Giants, earning five starting opportunities as a rookie. Skattebo delivered several impactful plays that drew widespread praise and helped him secure a spot in the starting lineup despite being selected at just 105th overall. His promising rookie performance, however, was cut short by an ankle injury that sidelined him in Week 8. Since then, Skattebo has been in rehab with an eye toward a possible return for Week 1.
This week, Skattebo took to X to share images from both his 2024 campaign and his offseason regimen, showcasing a new hairstyle that sparked plenty of attention in the comments. Fans joked about his longer hair, with questions and playful remarks about his look. One commenter asked, “Is this not the kid from Matilda?” while another chimed in, “That’s literally the kid from Matilda.” A third observer quipped, “Turned into Bam Margera,” and others offered comparisons to familiar depictions, including, “Hmmm, prefer the Year 1 look vs. the bob,” and “Looks like an all-state linebacker from 2004.” There were also nods to pop culture, with one fan declaring, “Badger from Breaking Bad officially made the league,” in reference to Skattebo’s new style.
On the field, Skattebo closed the 2025 season with 101 rushing attempts for 410 yards and five touchdowns. He added 24 receptions for 207 yards and two more scores, demonstrating his versatility as a dual-threat back. The 24-year-old has endured a lengthy injury recovery, but optimism remains high about his return to action early next season. If he can recapture the form he showed during his debut year, the Giants could be poised to make a strong push. The team finished 2025 with a disappointing 4-13 record and missed the playoffs, yet they went into the offseason with deliberate changes: veteran additions to the roster, a reshaped depth chart, and the drafting of linebacker Arvell Reese in the fifth round to bolster their defense and overall special-teams and depth at multiple positions.
Looking ahead, Giants supporters are hopeful that Skattebo’s return coincides with a broader rebound for the team. The organization has invested in retooling the roster this offseason, aiming to pair a healthier Skattebo with a more complete offense and defense. If everything comes together, New York could regain momentum and reassert itself as a playoff contender in the near term.
