​Ahead of the FIFA World Cup this summer, seven NFL stadiums replaced their synthetic turf with natural grass to host the soccer tournament. Right after the tournament ended, however, those NFL stadiums removed the grass to replace it with turf, which is cheaper to maintain.The NFL Players Association has pushed back on that decision, saying in a statement that the “temporary installation of natural grass fields for the World Cup is a choice by certain NFL team owners to do for soccer players what they refuse to do for NFL players.” Dozens of NFL players — including Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles — took to social media ahead of the World Cup final to campaign for natural grass across the NFL. There is no denying, however, that NFL players emphatically prefer playing on natural grass. The Broncos have it, and that is just one of the many selling points that make Denver an attractive destination for players.
