Northamptonshire all-rounder Justin Broad will miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to a lower back injury. The onetime Germany international, who has featured in only nine first-team matches this campaign, has been unable to bowl because of the issue. Broad, who was born in South Africa and is 26 years old, committed to a fresh two-year contract with Northants in September, a deal they highlighted as part of a longer-term plan, with head coach Darren Lehmann describing him as a “future leader” for the club.
“I’ve had an incredibly frustrating season on a personal level, and I’m really sad that it has to end like this,” Broad said on the club’s website. “That said, it has been uplifting to watch the lads perform so well, and I’ll be backing them in the coming months as we push for a strong finish to the season.”
Northants sit third in the County Championship Division Two standings and are also top of the T20 Blast Central & West group after winning nine of their ten matches, having already secured a place in the quarter-finals. Their next assignment is a trip to Somerset on Friday, with a 18:30 GMT start time.
Lynn propelled Northants into the T20 Blast quarter-finals, adding another chapter to a campaign that has showcased the squad’s depth and resilience. As the team momentum builds, supporters will be hoping for a continued run of form in both formats as they chase silverware this season. For those following Northamptonshire, keeping an eye on the club’s official channels will provide the latest updates and match reports as the campaign progresses.
