There are few pleasures in life quite like talking high school football. It’s not only about breaking down scores or predicting winners; it’s about debating storylines, challenging assumptions, and digging into the games that will define a season before the opening kickoff. That’s exactly why I’m thrilled to bring back the Rogers County Football Forecast this fall. The podcast returns with a refreshed look and a new co-host, and I’ll once again be at the mic, this time joined by Christian Potts, as we dive into another season of Rogers County high school football.
When we launched the Rogers County Football Forecast during the 2024 season, it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the job. Each week, Josh Jennings and I looked ahead to the biggest matchups, highlighted the teams and players making headlines, shared our predictions, and, occasionally, disagreed along the way. It wasn’t just about football; it was about capturing the kind of conversation fans have all week in anticipation of Friday night lights.
Then life happened. After graduating from Rogers State University, Jennings accepted a position with the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. It was a tremendous opportunity for him, but it also meant the podcast quietly faded from the airwaves. The reason is simple: I never envisioned the Rogers County Football Forecast as a solo show. I wanted it to feel like two people sitting around talking football, challenging each other’s opinions, laughing at bad predictions, and giving listeners a sense of belonging in the conversation.
That kind of dynamic is hard to achieve with one voice behind a microphone. To bring that vision to life, I needed a co-host. Enter Christian Potts. Potts shares the same passion for high school football and brings a fresh perspective that I think listeners will appreciate. Together, we’ll cover all nine Rogers County football programs while taking a deeper dive into the biggest games, the players to watch, and the storylines that could influence district races and playoff pushes.
Listeners can expect honest analysis, not just scores and statistics. We’ll make weekly picks, offer bold predictions, discuss rankings and playoff implications, welcome coaches and special guests, and spotlight the athletes and moments that make Rogers County football special. Whether you’re a die-hard fan, a parent, a player, a coach, or someone who simply loves Friday night football, our goal is to make the Rogers County Football Forecast your weekly stop before kickoff.
After a year away, I’m excited to get back behind the microphone. More importantly, I’m thrilled to have someone sitting across from me, because that’s how I always believed this podcast was meant to be. I can’t wait to talk football with Christian and with all of you.
