​Nottingham Forest suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in their opening Premier League game at home to Leeds United.The visitors started as the better side, but Forest found their footing and were asking serious questions of Leeds by the end of the half.But the halftime whistle disrupted the Reds’ momentum before they were able to capitalise on it, and Leeds responded well in the second half.It looked to be petering out for a goalless stalemate before an Anton Stach free-kick beat Matz Sels at his near post to gift Leeds a late winner.Nottingham Forest player ratingsMatz Sels (GK) – 4/10: Hero to zero. He made a superb save to deny Tarik Muharemovic, but a short while later got beaten at his near post as Leeds won it late on with a free-kick. He should have done better.Jair Cunha – 6/10: He had some nervous moments, but overall it was an okay performance, especially for someone who is still new to the first team.Nikola Milenkovic – 5/10: Too many needless fouls, including the free-kick Leeds scored from, although not his fault that Sels didn’t get to it. A marked improvement needed.Murillo – 7/10: As far as defender performances in a 1-0 loss go, Murillo’s was excellent. Contributions in both boxes, but the ease at which he progressed play from defence to midfield, and sometimes even attack, was remarkable.Ola Aina – 5/10: Aina still has a way to go in adapting to a Glasner system, but today was less about the system, and more a case of momentary errors. Not dreadful, but he needs to improve, and quickly, if he wants any chance of keeping his place.James McAtee – 6/10: Not stand-out, but nobody was. A solid performance all things considered, which was great to see for him.Ibrahim Sangare – 5/10: It was a really difficult game for Sangare, which is unusual for the Ivorian midfielder. A few too many misplaced passes which caused real headaches for Forest. Work to do, but he’s shown he’s up to the level; hopefully just an off day.Neco Williams – 7/10: Really dangerous down the left-hand side, though occasionally held onto the ball for too long. Overall, especially in the context of the game, a pleasing performance.Dan Ndoye – 5/10: Absent for much of the game, too much so. Offered very little, and needs to improve. Has shown for Switzerland, and at times in pre-season, that he’s capable of much, much better, which is both a positive and a source of frustration.Morgan Gibbs-White – 6/10: Was unusually quiet in the first half, but grew into the game and was trying to get things going in the second half.
