OH Leuven and KV Mechelen interested in Marseille goalkeeper

HNB reports that both KV Mechelen and OH Leuven are showing interest in acquiring Marseille’s goalkeeper Jelle Van Neck. The 22-year-old, who came through the Club Brugge academy, has been with Marseille since 2022 and currently serves as their third-choice stopper. OH Leuven expect to lose Tobe Leysen in this transfer window and view Van Neck as a potential replacement for the talented Belgian keeper. KV Mechelen, meanwhile, are looking to move on from Ortwin De Wolf after Nacho Miras took over as the club’s number one last season, and they want to bring in Van Neck to compete with Miras for the starting job.
Van Neck is likely to favor a move within Belgium, given that he has yet to make a first-team appearance for Marseille. He has spent most of his time in French football with Marseille B and within the club’s academy system. He has also earned caps for Belgium at the youth level.
If OH Leuven decide to part ways with Leysen, they would present a more appealing option for the Marseille goalkeeper. Moving to Leuven would offer Van Neck a clearer path to regular first-team football, especially since Nacho Miras established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in the Pro League last season and is expected to remain KV Mechelen’s first-choice between the posts.
In short, Van Neck’s likely destination appears to be Belgium, with OH Leuven and KV Mechelen emerging as the two clubs most seriously weighing a bid. For Van Neck, a move to Leuven could represent the fastest route to first-team football, while Mechelen would provide a competitive environment to challenge Miras for the starting spot. The dynamic between these two Belgian suitors underscores Van Neck’s potential value as a developing goalkeeper who could step into a regular role sooner rather than later.
