Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Isaiah Sategna enjoyed a breakout season in 2025 after arriving from Arkansas, where he spent three seasons in Fayetteville and totaled 632 receiving yards and three touchdowns. In his first year in Norman, Sategna transformed into a big-play threat for Oklahoma, finishing the season with 965 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He came just 35 yards shy of giving the Sooners their first 1,000-yard receiver since Marvin Mims in 2022, a milestone that would have underscored Oklahoma’s aerial efficiency and Sategna’s rising star status.
Sategna’s production placed him among the SEC’s elite in 2025, finishing third in receiving yards behind Mississippi State’s Brenen Thompson and Tennessee’s Chris Brazzell. His eight receiving touchdowns tied for third in the conference, with Brazzell and Texas A&M’s K.C. Concepcion recording more scores. With Brazzell, Concepcion, and Thompson now pursuing NFL opportunities, Sategna enters 2026 as the SEC’s leading returning receiver, a status that could shape how defenses approach Oklahoma’s aerial attack.
Analysts have highlighted Sategna as a cornerstone for the Sooners’ passing game moving forward. Athlon Sports’ Steve Lassan projected that Sategna would build on last year’s momentum, potentially leading the SEC in receiving yards in 2026, while acknowledging Cam Coleman’s potential to lead the conference in touchdown catches. On That SEC Podcast, Lassan explained, “I went with Sategna at Oklahoma. I think Cam Coleman might lead the SEC in touchdown catches. I think the yardage might be spread around. Sategna and Mateer built a nice connection last year. They did bring in Trell Harris and Parker Livingstone, but I think there’s a good chance that Sategna just builds on what he did last year, and a lot of these receivers are kind of clustered at the top of the conference for number one in receiving yards.”
If Sategna can take another step forward and become Oklahoma’s first 1,000-yard receiver in four seasons, it would provide a major boost for an offense intent on making significant strides in Year 2 under Ben Arbuckle. While Sategna has already established himself as one of the SEC’s premier receivers, another jump could elevate both his profile and Oklahoma’s offense to new heights. With an already solid connection to Mateer and a scheme that figures to be more comfortable in its second season under Arbuckle, the framework is in place for Sategna to post career-best numbers.
A continued surge by Sategna would not only solidify his status as a top-tier receiver but could also help redefine Oklahoma’s passing attack in the SEC. If he reaches the 1,000-yard plateau while leading the conference in receiving, the Sooners’ aerial attack could emerge as one of the most potent units in the SEC, forcing opposing defenses to account for him as a primary target and creating opportunities for Oklahoma’s other pass-catch options.
