Ousmane Kroham injury: FSU football carted off field vs Miami

By admin — In News — October 18, 2026

Florida State suffered a potentially devastating setback Saturday night when star running back Ousmane Kromah was carted off the field with a left ankle injury during the first half against No. 3 Miami. The injury occurred after Kromah powered his way for a 9-yard gain that moved the Seminoles inside the 2-yard line. As multiple Miami defenders brought him down, Kromah appeared to land awkwardly on his left ankle. After the play, the sophomore attempted to limp off the field under his own power before collapsing to the turf. Trainers quickly attended to him, placing an air cast on the injured leg before carting him to the locker room.Kromah finished the first half with 14 carries for 44 yards, averaging 3.1 yards per attempt.Florida State running back Ousmane Kromah is being stretchered and carted off the field after getting his ankle rolled up on at the end of this run. pic.twitter.com/U1gTVOMezi— Cason Wallace Supremacy (@Wiggs4Pres) October 18, 2026The injury is particularly significant for FSU offense. Kromah entered the night as one of the nation’s most productive running backs after contact and had emerged as the centerpiece of the Seminoles’ rushing attack. Through the first portion of the season, he had rushed 100 times for 565 yards and five touchdowns while putting himself on pace for a 1,000-yard campaign.Florida State’s backfield was already shorthanded after losing Samuel Singleton Jr. during the Alabama game on Sept. 19, and Germari Sands departed from the program earlier this month. With Kromah sidelined, the Seminoles are forced to rely more heavily on Tre Wisner, former walk-on Zay Parks and freshman Amari Thomas and quarterback Ashton Daniels, who accounted for a rushing touchdown late in the half. The rivalry matchup was physical throughout the opening two quarters. Daniels briefly left the game after taking a hit to the head that resulted in a targeting penalty against Miami. The quarterback returned after missing several plays. The Seminoles entered halftime locked in a 14-14 tie with the Hurricanes, but the focus quickly shifted to the status of Kromah, whose absence could loom large as FSU attempts to snap its road losing streak and secure an upset victory against its in-state rival.Whether Florida State can pull off an upset against Miami may ultimately depend on how it adjusts without its top offensive playmaker. Kromah’s injury not only removes one of the ACC’s most productive backs from the lineup, but also places added pressure on a depleted running back room as the Seminoles fight to keep pace in one of their biggest games of the season.More: Ashton Daniels leaves FSU vs. Miami after targeting, but returnsFlorida State 2026 scheduleAug. 29: vs. New Mexico State, W 34-17Sept. 7: vs. SMU, L, 27-24Sept. 13: ByeSept. 19: at Alabama, L 50-36Sept. 26: vs. Central Arkansas, W 34-7Oct. 3: vs. Virginia, W 38-7Oct. 9: at Louisville, L 44-20Oct. 17: at Miami, 7 p.m. Oct. 24: ByeOct. 31: vs. Clemson, TBDNov. 7: at Boston College
