Josh Jacobs might have a best-case scenario come his way as the Green Bay Packers star running back goes through his legal troubles throughout the 2026 NFL season. The Brown County district attorney of Wisconsin charged Jacobs with battery and criminal damage to property, both misdemeanors. Jacobs was originally arrested on May 26 on five counts, including one felony, but formal charges were not filed until Aug. 27. The alleged incident happened at Jacobs’ home near Green Bay on May 23. Jacobs had an initial court appearance Nov. 17 before it got pushed up for this past week in September. The NFL placed Jacobs on the Commissioner Exempt List, meaning he can’t play in any games until he resolves his situation. While a suspension would remain on the table, NFL insider Adam Schefter explained how Jacobs’ time on the list would reduce the official duration of the suspension.“While Packers running back Josh Jacobs remains on the Commissioner Exempt list, the NFL could count time spent there as time served for any potential suspension. Some league sources expect this to be the case in the end. In the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is a six-game minimum for any type of domestic violence. It could be more or less, depending on mitigating factors,” Schefter wrote. What lies ahead for Josh Jacobs and Packers this seasonGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) hands off the ball to running back Josh Jacobs (8) during the fifth day of training camp on Aug. 3, 2026, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wis.
