Padres place key reliever on injured list

   ​The San Diego Padres placed right-hander Jeremiah Estrada on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 26 with a right shoulder impingement.For Estrada, it’s yet another setback in a season that has already seen him sidelined twice before with unrelated injuries. Right-hander David Morgan was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to fill Estrada’s spot on the roster.Estrada, 27, is 2-3 wityh a 3.48 ERA in 33 appearances this season. He returned from that injury on July 29.The Padres did not provide a timetable for Estrada’s return or additional details about the severity of his shoulder problem.Estrada has been an important part of a San Diego bullpen that ranks among the better units in the majors. His absence adds pressure to a relief corps that has already been heavily used during the Padres’ home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates series.
