​A new inductee class is being announced for the DeWitt Athletic Hall of Fame, highlighting a pair of individuals and two celebrated teams as the latest additions. Jason Fish and Jordyn Shipps are the individual honorees, while the 2020 DeWitt football team and the 2020 boys soccer team are being inducted as a duo of teams. The public unveiling of this latest class is scheduled for Friday, September 11.
Jason Fish, a 2002 DeWitt graduate, left a lasting mark on the school’s swimming program. He established himself as one of the top performers in DeWitt history, posting record times in the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter butterfly. Fish’s excellence in the pool earned him the distinction of LSJ swimmer of the year on two occasions, underscoring his impact and consistency during his varsity career. His achievements contributed to the enduring legacy of DeWitt swimming, and his name is well-remembered among the program’s best athletes.
Jordyn Shipps, who graduated in 2021, continued the DeWitt swimming tradition with standout performances that left a lasting impression. She captured two state championships and was named the Division 2 swimmer of the year in 2021. Shipps also set the fastest times in the Greater Lansing area for the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, signaling her dominance at the high school level. Following her success at DeWitt, Shipps pursued collegiate swimming at Oakland University, where she further developed the skills and competitive mindset she demonstrated during her high school career.
In addition to recognizing individual athletes, the DeWitt Hall of Fame class will honor two storied teams from the 2020 season. The Panther football team, under the leadership of coach Rob Zimmerman, achieved a historic milestone by winning DeWitt’s first state championship in football.
