A new name at tight end has popped up as a potential target for the Carolina Panthers.Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton has come up with one trade each NFL team should make before the start of the 2026 season. For the reigning NFC South champions, he highlights Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson—who would be sent to Carolina in exchange for a mid-round draft pick in 2027.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMoton writes:The Panthers don’t have a high-end playmaker at tight end. Ja’Tavion Sanders and Tommy Tremble are both mediocre at best in the passing game. In order to aid quarterback Bryce Young’s development, Carolina can target a pass-catching tight end on the trade market. The Rams have a crowded tight end room. Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson and Davis Allen all played at least 31 percent of the snaps at that position last season. Los Angeles added rookie second-rounder Max Klare to the group.Fans may be cringing at the mere thought of Parkinson, who reeled in the game-winning touchdown in the Rams’ wild-card round win over the Panthers back in January. His 19-yard score in the fourth quarter helped give Los Angeles a 34-31 lead with just 38 seconds remaining, just about ending Carolina’s chances at completing one of the biggest upsets in recent postseason history. Before breaking thousands of hearts inside of Bank of America Stadium that evening, Parkinson notched a career-high eight touchdowns in 2025—nearly doubling his entire career total from the five seasons prior. Three of those five years were spent in Seattle alongside Panthers head coach Dave Canales, who served as the Seahawks’ passing game coordinator when Parkinson entered the league in 2020.So given Canales’ history with Parkinson and the Rams’ surplus of tight ends, perhaps the 27-year-old pass catcher could actually end up on the good side of the Carolina faithful at some point in 2026.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFollow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content. This article originally appeared on Panthers Wire: Panthers implored to trade for TE who might make their fans cringe
