​KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season is inching closer and closer, and one question remains: Will Patrick Mahomes be on the field? The answer to that question continues to trend toward yes, despite Mahomes not playing in a preseason game so far as her recovers from a torn ACL and LCL.

He’s testing his movement, making the throws and proving to himself that his body can handle it.The two-time MVP has given the Chiefs plenty of reasons to feel good about his recovery. He hasn’t missed a single rep in camp and says he’s checked every box he set out to hit.“I haven’t missed any reps, getting to go out there day after day and kind of having the grind of the camp… I mean, that can even be harder than the season, just the wear and tear on your body and going back out there and doing it again the next day,” Mahomes continued after practice on Tuesday.”I didn’t know if I was going to have to take days off and stuff like that, but my body’s responded the right way. I haven’t had to miss anything, other than the preseason games, but even for those, I’m going through the warm-up process, trying to make myself prepared.”Mahomes has been a full participant throughout the entirety of training camp, taking all of the first-team reps during 11-on-11.
