Like, Michael Jordan, even when he went to the Wizards, was still the first option. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the second option with Magic Johnson. When we start having these debates about the GOAT and we say, well, you know, Philly won a championship, but he was a fourth option, he has five rings, but fourth and fifth option. So, it’ll do something to his legacy. I really believe that. GOATs don’t take backseats to anyone who wasn’t considered a GOAT themselves, you know what I’m saying?”
Pierce has never shied away from offering his opinions, especially when LeBron James is involved, and there may be some merit to his point. A player of James’ caliber rarely slides into a secondary role, but there’s also the reality that he is 41 and still averaging well over 20 points per game. That level of production remains remarkable, and it’s one of the reasons the idea of LeBron joining the Sixers gets so much attention.
