While Penn State have one of the deeper QB rooms in the country, there may not be many players who stay on to follow through with Matt Campbell’s project. They have several recruits from this year’s class on the depth chart, but want to ensure the future of the position. That is why Campbell’s connections within the 2028 class are so important to the team’s success. Blue chip prospect James Armstrong could be one of the players the Nittany Lions could seriously look at.. Armstrong is the No. 10 QB in the class and is an in-state recruit that Campbell will almost certainly want on the roster. He recently was at an event where the coaching staff was convinced he could be their QB of the future. This is an interesting development seeing as to how the Nittany Lions have already held a visit with three star prospect Drew Sheridan. While Campbell may like the developmental route, Armstrong may be more college ready due to his ranking and the coaching staff’s praise of him.. Advertisement. Advertisement. Advertisement. The bottom line is that Campbell has recruited well, but his struggles with in-state recruiting have been the glaring issue for this Nittany Lions squad. Should the Nittany Lions go all in for Armstrong, they would have a recruit and a player that people could get behind in a hurry. Especially if he has a prolific start to his career..
