But, for the Phillies, the addition of Arraez presents one issue: how do they reshuffle the infield? Arraez will play second base, so what happens to Bryson Stott?According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies could move Stott to third base, which wouldn’t be that big of a surprise. But, they are also reportedly considering a different position change, one that would send Stott to the outfield in a wild move.Phillies are considering moving Bryson Stott to OF after Luis Arraez trade”They could also keep Harper and Bohm on the corners and send Stott to the outfield, an option the club has discussed internally,” Gelb reports.Stott has been a great defensive second baseman, but he’s now losing his position to Arraez. It’s not a huge issue, as he could move over to third base, where he has actually played some time in the big leagues, albeit just 15 total innings. In the minor leagues, Stott has had some experience at third base, playing 68 innings during his minor league career at the hot corner. It’s not an ideal switch, but it’s one he has experience with.Moving him to the outfield, however, would be a drastic change. Unlike Trea Turner, who actually does have prior outfield experience in the big leagues, Stott has not once suited up in the outfield during his Major League career.MORE: Phillies predicted to trade for a starting pitcher and reliever by MLB deadlineGoing back to the minor leagues, from 2019 through 2022, Stott never once played in the outfield. Moving him out there now would be an incredibly bold move. They’ve tried out Edmundo Sosa in the outfield before, and it’s not gone all too badly. But sending Stott out there would be a very risky move mid-season for someone who has not once played in the outfield since being drafted in 2019.Seeing what the Phillies do with Stott, and subsequently Bohm, Bryce Harper, or maybe even Turner in the wake of this Arraez trade will be incredibly interesting.Gelb is reporting that Stott could be moving to the outfield, which would be a wild decision for the Phillies that comes with a lot of risk.
