Photo provided by Matt LynchPITTSBURGH — The Pirates are getting a key player back from injury as Endy Rodríguez has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Rodríguez had been sidelined since July 8 (retroactive to July 6) with a left glute strain. Rodríguez appeared in 35 games prior to the injury and batted .260/.388/.470 with six doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI. The 26-year-old appeared in two rehab games with Triple-A Indianapolis and went 1 for 7 with a double, an RBI and a walk.Rodríguez will split time behind the plate with Henry Davis, who is starting at catcher in Monday’s game against the Diamondbacks.To pave the way for Rodríguez’s return, the Pirates optioned fellow backstop Shawn Ross to Indianapolis. Ross made his first MLB start in Sunday’s win over the Cubs and connected on a two-run home run off Jameson Taillon for his first-career hit.Ross, who had his contract selected on Friday after Rafael Flores Jr. went on the concussion IL, has played 33 games in Triple-A this season.
