The first member of Auburn baseball’s 2026 roster to depart the MLB draft has been revealed: Auburn’s second baseman Chris Rembert was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft, coming in at No. 51 overall. He stands as the first Auburn Tiger chosen in this draft class and marks the second Auburn-connected player taken, joining 2026 signee Coleman Borthwick, who went No. 21 overall to the San Diego Padres.
The slot value for a No. 51 pick is approximately $1.94 million, according to MLB.com, which represents a strong return for one of Auburn’s most valuable lineup pieces over the past two seasons. Hailing from Pensacola, Florida, the sophomore has produced an impressive stat line at Auburn, batting .344 across two seasons with 14 home runs, 92 RBIs, and 42 total extra-base hits. In the field, Rembert has been reliable, recording a .974 fielding percentage with 145 putouts and 191 assists while committing only nine errors over 115 career games.
As the MLB draft proceeds over the weekend, a few other Auburn players to watch include third baseman Eric Guevara, shortstop Brandon McCrane, and pitchers Alex Petrovic and Ryan Hetzler. Guevara is the next Auburn player projected to hear his name called, ranked No. 209 among draft-eligible Tigers, with McCraine positioned around No. 222.
