They dub it the World’s Largest Amateur Golf Championship, and the numbers back up that bold claim. Competitors hail from 49 states and 17 different countries, and notably, 95 percent of the golfers are traveling from outside a 50-mile radius of the Myrtle Beach area.
“We are excited that 3,000 people have registered from all over the world to play in this year’s World Am,” said Scott Taylor, the Championship Director. “Each year, our community’s goal is to provide the best possible experience to the largest number of people that we can. We look forward to welcoming new and returning participants this year.”
Although registration has closed, tournament officials have opened an alternate list, organized by the order in which sign-ups were received. The event features 12 divisions and 60 flights, ensuring a wide range of competition and opportunities for players of varying skill levels.
