The Philadelphia 76ers continued the summer league on Tuesday afternoon when they took on the Houston Rockets in the summer league. The Sixers are still in the process of seeing what they have in youngsters such as rookie guard Labaron Philon Jr. as they move forward in the summer.Outside of Philon, it was a struggle for the summer Sixers as they fell to the Rockets 90-64 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The shifty guard out of Alabama had 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting with four assists, but the Sixers shot just 31% from the floor overall and 5-for-30 from deep as the rest of the team couldn’t find the offensive rhythm it did in the first two games of the summer.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAmani Lyles had 13 points and three rebounds, Saint Thomas added five and three rebounds, and Johni Broome finished with only two points and three rebounds. Dante Maddox Jr. had 10 points, but he shot just 2-for-11 from the floor and 1-for-7 from deep as the Rockets certainly paid attention to the scouting report on him. Here are the player grades following the loss:The Sixers got off to a tough start offensively as a group, but Philon himself played well. He converted on tough looks while also having to battle against the aggressive blitzes the Rockets sent him every time he crossed half-court. Despite the constant pressure from Houston and the lack of rhythm from his teammates, Philon was able to really give the Sixers some big offensive moments in this one, but he wasn’t able to get enough help from his teammates to get the job done. Either way, Philadelphia should be excited about his ability to score and play well despite the lack of overall offensive cohesion. He did a terrific job of adjusting to the traps from the Rockets and was able to get to the basket and to his spots as often as he did.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAfter some monster games to start the summer league, Broome found some struggles in this one. He missed a couple of free throws in the early going as he was among the Sixers who struggled on the offensive end and he also had a tough time really rebounding the basketball, which is a big strength of his. It has been an overall strong summer league for Broome, but he wasn’t able to do much in this one.The Sixers turned to their bench unit and Lyles gave them a bit of an offensive boost. He had a nice And-1 to start his day and made some real energy plays while also giving Philadelphia the scoring it needed with the overall team having some issues. He was a positive for the summer Sixers on Tuesday.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt gave the Sixers a big lift when Thomas was able to knock down an open 3 while also helping out on the glass. Philadelphia was finally able to find some production from somebody other than Philon and it offered up some room for Philon to operate on offense. He wasn’t able to have his usual defensive impact, though. This article originally appeared on Sixers Wire: Player grades: Laba
