The just-concluded weekend series against the Blue Jays pretty much settles things: It’s over, unless they run the table and win every game from now on.In this week’s episode, before getting into the frustration and sadness about the state of the team, I offer a salute and congratulations to the High-A Frederick Keys, whose season came to an end with a playoff loss last week. A number of interesting prospects were part of Frederick’s season, both guys who started there and played their way up a level, and guys who started below and played their way up to Frederick. This really is an exciting thing for down the road for the Orioles. It’s just that the payoff probably won’t start in 2027, or at least certainly not on the Opening Day roster. Then, the frustration. A listener started an email with so much rage that he didn’t even realize he sent the thing before finishing, then he followed up with the full message. This month’s play, particularly the presence of Red Sox uniform Rutschman at Camden Yards in a series where the Orioles were mopped, was just too much. I don’t think this person is the only one who’s turned to football season in frustration.Last, I recount the grim toll of September so far for the Orioles, where as is typically the case there are many problems, but it’s hard not to be the most disappointment at an offense that is completely fizzling, with key players who were supposed to be better than this in massive slumps that are even worse than their already-disappointing season totals.Listen to this week’s episode here:View LinkIf the above player isn’t displaying, view this article in Incognito Mode or check it out on the show’s page. This is my weekly podcast about whatever is going on lately with the Orioles.
