Today, we focus on “The Stable,” aka, the Texas A&M running backs.Who did we lose?Le’Veon Moss moved on after a tantalizing but ultimately injury-plagued career at A&M, amassing just over 2,000 total yards with 22 TDs in his four years in College Station. He signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent, but unfortunately medically retired from football this summer.Amari Daniels exhausted his eligibility after what felt like a decade in Aggieland (it was actually only five years). He led the Aggies in rushing attempts in both 2023 and 2024, but ultimately played a complementary role to Moss and Rueben Owens last season.E.J. Smith wrapped up his six-year college football career (thanks COVID) with A&M last season. While he did get 46 carries and 4 TDs, where he really shined was on special teams, something that may allow him to earn a roster spot with the Kansas City Chiefs.Who do we bring back?Rueben Owens led A&M in rushing attempts and yards in 2025 (thanks in part to Moss’ injury) and looks to lead the A&M backfield in 2026. The former five-star recruit is in his fourth season, but will face some stiff competition from some of the younger players behind him.Jamarion Morrow flashed as a true freshman a year ago, earning playing time despite a very crowded and very veteran running back room. While undersized, his blazing speed may get him a role as a change of pace back for the Ags.Tiger Riden (elite RB name) enters his sophomore season as another name to watch. He showed flashes in limited action a year ago but as is a common refrain, faces a lot of competition for carries. What other names should we know?A&M added two more RBs in their 2026 recruiting class with K.J. Edwards and Carsyn Baker. Both have drawn positive reviews in camp, and are a big part of this team’s future. While they seem capable of contributing, it’s very unclear exactly how much they will given the more proven guys in front of them.Arkansas State transfer DD Murray was a late addition to the A&M roster this spring. The brother of A&M DL D.J. Sanders, he should provide proven depth for what is otherwise a very young RB room outside of Rueben Owens.Overall Grade: B+I very much like several of the guys A&M has in “The Stable,” but a lack of proven production keeps them from getting an A here. Owens left a lot of meat on the bone last season due to some suspect contact balance, and needs to prove he’s solved that issue before we label him a true RB1. Behind him the
