​It’s the first day of practice at the Presidents Cup, the golf tournament happening at the famed Medinah County Club Golf Course.It’s been years in the making, and now is just days away from the start of The President’s Cup here at Medinah Country Club. The President’s Cup is a bi-annual event pitting the U.S. Team against a team made up of the best international players outside of Europe.Medinah is no stranger to major golf events.President Trump is visiting Chicago sometime in the coming days for the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club.Mike Gilligan with the Chicago District for Golf Association talks about the Presidents Cup.Mike Gilligan from the Chicago District Golf Association said hosting the President’s Cup puts Medinah in a very special place in golf history.”This place just never disappoints,” Gilligan said. “It is one of the greatest arenas to host a major exhibition, championship or otherwise. I think its location means everything. It is so easy to get to form the North Shore, from the south suburbs and the western suburbs. I just think it is the ultimate venue in golf here in Chicago.”It takes more than a village to pull off a massive event like this. Volunteers come from around the area to serve as marshals around the course and work the merchandise tent.”We have two types of marshals,” Paul Grane said. “We have roving marshals and we have hole marshals. The roving marshal committee is a group of 46 people that volunteered to basically act as fore caddies during the tournament. There are four people per match. Several local organizations like the Chicago District Golf Association and the First Tee have already received generous donations.The Tournament starts on Thursday morning and ends on Sunday.
