​PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Football had its opening night on Friday.Sports like soccer, volleyball and flag football joined the fun on Monday. Fall sports are now in full swing as the Illinois High School Association sports calendar now has competition in all fall sports this week.Notre Dame started the soccer season with a 7-0 win over visiting Quincy Notre Dame. Washington, which was the class 2A state runner-up last year, won its season opener by a 1-0 score at Richwoods.It was a good opening night for Mid-Illini volleyball teams. Morton, Washington, Metamora, and Dunlap all won seasons openers, as did Tremont and Princeville.And Richwoods shut out U-High 40-0 in girls flag football, spoiling the Pioneers’ first ever game in the sport.
