​Crystal Palace return to Selhurst Park for their third Women’s Super League fixture of the season. Palace host Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst on Sunday 20 September with kick-off at 2pm. Tickets are still available for the match, and it is streamed on SkySports + and Youtube. Coming of the back of one of their best results in history with a 0-0 draw away at the Emirates, Jo Potter’s side will look to continue their unbeaten streak in front of a strong home crowd. Another streak they will be looking to extend is their clean sheet record, as only Palace and Arsenal have kept clean sheets in the first two games. Their result on Sunday made history as Palace were the first newly promoted team in WSL history to keep a clean sheet away against a side who finished last season in the top 2. Against Arsenal Potter made only one change leaving out Bethany England in favour of Abbie Larkin. With England not in the squad it was unclear if she has an injury or illness. Fans and commentators were optimistic for Palace’s return to the WSL, with their summer transfer window that brought in major experienced reinforcements at all ends of the pitch. But, no one expected the immediate impact they would make, and how unified the squad seems especially around Potter. Facing Tottenham will be Palace’s next challenge and it certainly will not be easy, but if Potter’s side can combine their balanced attacking and defensive strategies from their first two games, they could end the third game week unbeaten. The Opponents Tottenham enter the third week on a similar form to Palace, winning their first match against West Ham 3-1 and drawing their second to Liverpool 1-1-. The Lilywhites finished last season fifth in the league after finishing one spot away from relegation the season before. In their last two meetings Spurs were victorious on both accounts: firstly a 4-0 thrashing and then a tight 3-2 defeat before Palace’s relegation from the WSL was confirmed. Against West Ham on the opening game of the season their new star signing Kirsty Hanson scored twice on her debut, and she is certainly one for Palace’s defence to focus on as she was the third highest goalscorer in the WSL last season with Aston Villa. Palace will also need to look out for Signe Gaupset, Spurs’s 21-year-old Norwegian midfielder, who scored and assisted against the Hammers in a game where Spurs made the most of a high volume of opportunities. Spurs’s performance against Liverpool on the weekend was more disappointing for their fans as they were slow to react to second balls and struggled to keep up with Liverpool’s chances throughout the game. Palace fans can expect a similar play from Spurs as their last two opponents: high possession football and a high concentration in the box with a strong likelihood of lots of chances coming towards Peyraud-Magnin and Palace’s defence.
