Michigan sits in a strong position as July approaches, aiming to land another elite 2027 offensive lineman commit. Oceanside, California, four-star mauler Lincoln Mageo is expected to reveal his decision today, with the Wolverines in a heated battle for his signature alongside Washington and Utah. If Michigan can come out on top, Mageo would become the fourth offensive lineman to pledge to Jim Harbaugh’s program this cycle. He would also join in-state standout Jakari Lipsey as the second four-star prospect projected to play on the interior line.
Mageo trimmed his list to three contenders on Wednesday, as Michigan continues to gain momentum in the weeks since the junior’s return visit to Ann Arbor for an official. That trip followed an earlier campus visit in early April, when Mageo spent multiple days with head coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff. Mageo recalled being impressed by Michigan’s former coordinator—though in this case speaking about the early interactions—with the coaching staff. He noted how the detailed technique breakdowns and development-focused approach resonated with him, describing it as the kind of coaching he’s seeking.
“I loved watching coach Harding break down technique during indy period so that everyone could understand,” Mageo told Maize N Brew at the time. “That is the type of coaching that I’m looking for. A coach who takes time to break down technique and focuses on development. We went bowling and coach Harding is pretty good, but I definitely need to practice more so I can beat him the next time I’m out there. He’s a cool coach and makes it comfortable for his room to ask questions if they don’t understand something.”
On the official visit, Mageo received special attention from fellow Polynesian teammates, including Malakai Lee and Houston Ka’aha’aina-Torres, who made him feel at home. “Coach Whitt was super genuine during our meeting,” Mageo said. “It didn’t seem like he was selling something. He just seemed real. Michigan has always been up there for me, and meeting the new staff just confirmed that they’re still up there.”
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 285 pounds, Mageo is ranked as the No. 242 overall prospect and No. 14 interior offensive lineman in the country by Rivals. He is also listed as the No. 22 player in California, highlighting his status as a top regional and national target for 2027. As the decision day approaches, Michigan’s pursuit remains intense, with the Wolverines hoping to seal another major commitment of the interior variety and continue building depth and versatility on the offensive line.
