​  Tuesday night, Labaron Philon Jr. became the latest Alabama basketball player drafted in the NBA when the former Crimson Tide guard was selected with the No. 22 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers.Alabama’s first NBA draft pick since 2023, Philon simply has all the tools needed to become an impact player at the professional level, even as early as his rookie season. A big reason behind this thought is the situation which Philon landed in following the draft, as not only will the former Crimson Tide guard learn from one of the NBA’s top scoring guards, but there is also a clear path to playing time during the 2026-27 season with Philadelphia.Following is a look at Philadelphia’s updated depth chart following the selection of Philon on Tuesday night, as well as a look at what the former Alabama guard’s role could be as a NBA rookie. This depth chart does not include any unrestricted free agents from the Sixers’ roster this past season.At the moment, Philon likely projects as Philadelphia’s primary backup point guard, sitting solely behind star Tyrese Maxey. Maxey, a two-time All-Star, is one of the NBA’s top scoring guards, averaging 28.3 points per game this past season.In addition to Maxey, Philon also joins V.J. Edgecombe in a supremely talented Philadelphia backcourt, one that has the potential to be among the most talented offensively in the Eastern Conference.
