PSG interested in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly weighing a summer swoop for Parma FC goalkeeper Zion Suzuki (23) after La Gazzetta dello Sport linked the club with the Japanese shot-stopper. Suzuki, who was born in Newark, New Jersey, rose to prominence with a standout World Cup display for Japan and subsequently impressed between the posts for Parma in the previous season. Despite his minutes being limited by a hand injury, he still logged 22 appearances and kept six clean sheets for the Gialloblù.
The 23-year-old has also drawn interest from Aston Villa, who are seeking a long-term successor to Emiliano Martínez (33) as he edges closer to a move away, and from Leeds United. All told, Suzuki could leave Emilia-Romagna for a transfer fee in the region of around €35 million. That figure would be a sensible sum for Parma, who continue to hold Suzuki under contract until 2030, underscoring their leverage in negotiations even as the player attracts attention from major European clubs.
For PSG, Suzuki represents a strategic transfer opportunity aligned with their mid-term squad-building plan, despite the competition for a goalkeeper unit that already includes Matvey Safonov (27) and Lucas Chevalier (24), along with the recent arrival of the young Italian talent Alessandro Longoni (18). The Paris club are reportedly looking to bolster their options in goal as part of a broader plan to strengthen the squad over the coming seasons, aiming to balance experience with youthful potential and maintain depth across the position.
Suzuki’s profile combines international exposure, rapid development, and a steady rise in club-level performances, all of which appeal to a club intent on reinforcing its spine for the long term. Parma, meanwhile, would likely seek to maximize any potential sale while ensuring they are compensated fairly for a player who has the attributes to operate at a high level across Europe’s top leagues. The dynamic around Suzuki’s future could hinge on whether PSG or other interested sides escalate negotiations, and how Parma respond to bids that reflect both the player’s market value and their own strategic interests in player development and recruitment.
