"I can feel I’m making progress" – Serge Gnabry gives injury update

Serge Gnabry is making encouraging strides in his recovery from the adductor injury he sustained in April. In an interview featured on FC Bayern’s official website, the 30-year-old expressed that he is feeling “very good” and noted the joy of training without pain again. He conveyed that progress comes with each training session and that this progression is motivating him to push toward a swift return to competition. “I can feel I’m making progress with every session. That’s fun. That’s why I’m really looking forward to being back on the pitch, and I’m working very hard to be able to play again as soon as possible,” Gnabry stated.
He added that he senses his body returning to top form physically and admitted to a growing eagerness to perform actions he thought he might not be able to execute just a few weeks earlier. Gnabry highlighted his early reconnecting steps with the sport’s fundamentals, noting that he has completed his first few passing drills again and reintroduced lateral movements—the movements that initially triggered his injury. “I can feel I’m getting back into top form physically. I’m keen again on doing things I didn’t think I was able to do a few weeks ago: I’ve completed my first few passing exercises again. Or lateral movements – which caused my injury. I’m incorporating these things again now. I’m getting back up to speed, I’m running faster and faster – all these things make me feel really good.”
Bayern Munich supporters are watching Gnabry’s rehabilitation closely, hopeful that the winger will soon rejoin the squad at full strength. His return could be timely as the club prepares for the new season’s first competitive fixture, the DFL-Supercup final against Borussia Dortmund, scheduled for August 22. The match will mark a pivotal moment in Bayern’s campaign as they attempt to secure early momentum and set the tone for the season ahead. Gnabry’s progress is being monitored with optimism by the Bayern medical and coaching teams, who emphasize a cautious yet persistent approach to ensure he returns in peak condition.
With the 2024-2025 season on the horizon, Gnabry’s healthcare team is focusing on a comprehensive rehabilitation program that balances strength, mobility, and match-specific intensity. The winger is reportedly engaging in a structured regimen designed to restore functional strength and endurance, minimize re-injury risk, and accelerate his conditioning to match the pace and demands of elite competition. Fans are eager for updates on his timeline, but the overarching message from Bayern’s camp remains that Gnabry’s return will be carefully managed to optimize both short-term readiness and long-term durability.
If Gnabry continues to demonstrate consistent improvement and maintains pain-free training sessions, a return to competitive action could come into sharper focus as August approaches. The DFL-Supercup clash against Dortmund will likely be his first big test on the road back, offering a clear signal of his readiness to contribute at the highest level. Until then, the emphasis remains on controlled progression, meticulous rehabilitation, and gradual reintroduction to the intense pace of professional football. As Gnabry himself emphasizes, every training session is a measure of progress, and the prospect of reclaiming peak form remains a powerful motivator driving his comeback.
