​A record amount of prize money is on the line this week at the 2026 Open Championship.The R&A announced Tuesday the payouts and prize money for the final men’s major championship of the year at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. The purse will be $17.75 million, up half a million from 2025, while the winner will take home $3.2 million, an increase of $100K from last year.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBoth figures are records for the championship. However, the Open remains last in terms of the four men’s major championships.The Masters purse this year was $22.5 million, the same figure as the U.S. Open last month. Prize money will decrease by $125 per qualifying place above 70 to a minimum of $39,450.For those who miss the cut, the leading 10 and ties will still take home $12,900, while the next 20 golfers and ties will earn $10,750.
