Rebilas-Imagn ImagesOn Tuesday, Rams fans got to see the first of those hurdles as Donald won’t be traveling with the team to Australia to face off against the San Francisco 49ers Thursday night U.S. time, Friday morning local time.Will Aaron Donald play against the 49ers in Australia?Citing reporting by NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapaport, ESPN detailed that Donald will be inactive for the game.“The Rams want to give Donald more time to ramp up before making his much-anticipated return after two seasons of retirement,” ESPN explained.View this post on InstagramA post shared by LA Sports Report (@lasportsreport)Asked recently about Donald’s chances of playing Week 1, coach Sean McVay hinted that Donald’s status would be a late decision — the Rams are expected to fly out to Australia Tuesday night — but that the other Rams would be plenty ready to take on the Niners, with or without Donald.“If he feels good enough to go, great,” McVay said. “If not, I’ve got a lot of confidence in the other guys that’ll be ready to step up if that’s the case, who have really gotten all the reps anyway.”Those “other guys” are hardly slouches.Of course, much of the focus will be on the newly acquired pass rusher Myles Garrett, will be “ready to go” for the NFC West matchup, McVay said.That number also includes the recently acquired Trent McDuffie, who will greatly strengthen the Rams’ defensive backfield.
