​The Los Angeles Rams are adding familiar help to their wide receiver room with the NFL regular season just around the corner. Los Angeles reacquired Tutu Atwell from the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, sending running back Jarquez Hunter to Miami in the deal. The move comes with uncertainty surrounding Puka Nacua and a potential league suspension. During that time, he recorded 105 receptions for 1,535 yards and five touchdowns in 64 games.His 2025 season was disappointing, as he caught just six passes for 192 yards and a touchdown in 10 games. The league has not announced any discipline, and the Rams have not said the Atwell trade is connected to Nacua’s situation.Still, the timing is certainly interesting.Atwell knows the offense, knows McVay, and has already proven capable of producing in Los Angeles. If Nacua were to miss time, Atwell would provide the Rams with an experienced receiver who wouldn’t need to spend weeks learning a new system.That’s especially important with the Rams preparing for a Week 1 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.The trade doesn’t confirm that Nacua will be suspended. It could simply be the Rams adding experienced depth after deciding Hunter wasn’t going to have a significant role on the roster.
