Ranck, Snider head All-Ohio, All-District picks by coaches

   ​Crooksville graduate Grayson Houk, who recently accepted an offer to the Naval Academy, has made school history as the first student ever to gain admission to the service academy. Houk, the school’s record holder in the 400 meters and a Division IV state meet qualifier, intends to study nuclear or aerospace engineering. In other local sports news, the Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association recognized standout seasons from area players. Sheridan senior Megan Ranck, a pitcher, earned first-team All-Ohio honors after guiding the Generals to their second consecutive Division III district final appearance. Ranck finished the season 17-6 with a 1.85 ERA and just 18 walks, while batting .467 with six home runs and a team-leading 30 RBIs. She was the sole Southeast District first-team selection. Ranck’s sophomore teammate, catcher Avery Hall, received honorable mention after hitting .420 with seven homers, 22 RBIs, and 22 steals. Tri-Valley’s Alivia Reffit also earned honorable mention after batting .436 with a .667 slugging percentage, 12 extra-base hits, and 21 RBIs.

In Division IV, John Glenn sophomore pitcher Kendall Snider earned first-team East District honors for helping push the Muskies through their regional final run. Snider finished 18-4 with 334 strikeouts in 156 innings, also belting seven homers and posting a .407 batting average.
Elsewhere, Ridgewood senior Addison Lahmers was an honorable mention in Division V, and Crooksville sophomore Dalena Rollison earned honorable mention in Division VI; both players repeated as All-Ohio selections. Rollison hit .391 with seven homers, 16 extra-base hits, and a 1.83 OPS.

First Team selections included POY Megan Ranck of Sheridan (SE) and Avery Hall of Sheridan (sophomore, SE) at the top of the list; Alivia Reffit of Tri-Valley (JR, E) was named First Team as well. Kendall Snider of John Glenn (sophomore, E) earned a First Team nod in Division IV. The expanded list also features Second Team honorees including Ally Peterson (Tri-Valley, senior, E) and Camdyn Tyson (Tri-Valley, freshman, E), along with Gerran Matthews (Tri-Valley, sophomore, E), and Hayley Clifton (Sheridan, senior, SE). Honorable mentions include Ava Neal and Megan Kozusko (Tri-Valley) and Riley Nicely (Sheridan).
