​The Texas Rangers have activated lefthanded relief pitcher Robert Garcia from the 60 day injured list, the team announced today. To make room for him on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned righthanded reliever Ben Peoples to AAA Round Rock. Henderson/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesGarcia, acquired from the Washington Nationals prior to the 2025 season for Nathaniel Lowe, put up a 2.95 ERA in 71 appearances in 2025, and was expected to be a key part of the Rangers’ pen this season. Instead, he went on the injured list in mid-April with a shoulder problem that kept him on the shelf most of the season. Garcia made a rehab appearance for Round Rock on Saturday, throwing 16 pitches, facing four batters, allowing a hit and striking out two.That was apparently enough for the Rangers to feel he was ready to go, though given the current state of the bullpen, that’s understandable. The Rangers have been lacking in viable middle relief options, and Garcia likely slots in as one of the primary guys Skip Schumaker will turn in the sixth and seventh innings.Peoples had been sent down in mid-August, but was recalled when Cole Winn and Peyton Gray went on the injured list.
