​ARLINGTON, Texas – It’s hard to envision a much better bounce-back performance than what the Texas Rangers got on Tuesday night.After a tough series-opening loss on Monday, the Rangers turned around and blanked the Chicago White Sox 10-0. The Rangers’ offense jumped all over White Sox left-handed starter Noah Schultz, tagging him for five runs on 11 hits in just 3.2 innings of work.Brandon Nimmo got the scoring started in the first, driving a two-run home run just over the left field wall.Nimmo collected four hits in the game, all against left-handed pitchers, making him the first Rangers lefty since Josh Hamilton in 2009 to have four hits in a game against a same-side pitcher.“The lefties were 9-11 against a tough lefty, so I think that was the reason why we won,” Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said. Certainly, another reason the Rangers won was the effort of starting pitcher Kumar Rocker, who turned in one of his better outings of the season.Rocker fired six innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out six and earning his first win since May 19.“The extra rest obviously helped,” Schumaker said when talking about Rocker’s first start after the All-Star break.“He was throwing 95-mph plus; fastball command was great, the slider whiff rate was probably one of his best of the year, he mixed in some changeups and a new split that he’s working on. “It was a left-handed lineup too, and he still dominated with the fastball-slider combo with some cutters in on some lefties,” Schumaker continued. “He limited the walks, obviously not too many hits, so just an outstanding job by Rocker.”Rocker is now tied with Nathan Eovaldi for the team lead with four outings of six-plus innings without allowing a run.Coming into play, Rocker was getting an average of less than four runs of support per start, but the Texas hitters certainly backed him today, putting up a season-high 18 hits.After Nimmo’s home run in the first, Texas had RBI hits from Jake Burger, Alejandro Osuna, Nicky Lopez, Ezequiel Duran, and a two-run home run off the bat of Wyatt Langford.With the win, the Rangers jump back above .500 at 51-50 and are now 9-4 in games following a loss of six runs or more.On Wednesday night, Texas will have an opportunity to win the series against Chicago.Join the CommunityDon’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news!It’s completely free to join.
