​NEW YORK — While out of contention, the Mets will be squarely in the spotlight as Major League Baseball’s Aug. 3 trade deadline approaches.In a seller’s market, with 22 teams in a playoff spot or within four games of one entering Wednesday, the Mets have a host of players who can help a needy team for the stretch run.It remains a big task for David Stearns and his Mets front office, which must walk a delicate balance as they try to move assets while remaining confident they can compete in the upcoming season.The Mets have eight players who are on the precipice of being moved at the trade deadline. We have ranked them in order of value and what they could bring to the table for an acquiring team:8. Tyrone TaylorPosition: OutfielderContract status: Unrestricted free agentOutlook: The 32-year-old outfielder is not going to command a ton at the deadline, but he brings certain skillsets that are sure to pique the interest as a bench piece for a contending team. Taylor plays all three outfield positions at a capable level and boasts a sprint speed in the top 9 percent of MLB. He’s showcasing his top-end offensive potential at the moment, going 16-for-42 (.381) with six home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs and four doubles in 20 games since returning from the injured list. 7. Luis Robert Jr.Position: OutfielderContract status: $20 million club option for 2027; $2 million buyoutOutlook: In a marketplace where several of the top right-handed bats who may have been available (Spencer Steer, Casey Schmitt and Shea Langeliers) suffered significant injuries a few days before the deadline, that could help the Mets’ return for the likes of Taylor or Robert Jr. The latter brings his own injury risk after spending three months of the season nursing a herniated disc in his back. On the plus side, Robert hits the ball hard – he has two home runs in his first seven games back – and fields his position well. He’s also striking out less and walking way more than he did a season ago. 6. A.J. MinterPosition: Left-handed relief pitcherContract status: Unrestricted free agentOutlook: The Mets have a pair of left-handed relievers on expiring deals that are sure to gather interest across the league. Minter has been effective since returning from a torn lat, which kept him out for the majority of 2025 and into late May this season. The lefty, who is a free agent after this season, is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 18 strikeouts in 22 innings. Minter fills the zone – he’s only walked two batters – but his velocity has dripped a tick over the last three seasons.5. Brooks RaleyPosition: Left-handed relief pitcherContract status: Unrestricted free agentOutook: The 38-year-old Raley might get a slight nod over Minter because he’s further removed from his own injury struggles (a 2024 Tommy John surgery) and relies on a deeper pitch mix and nasty spin to curb opponents, even if he sits in the low-90s/high-80s with most of his repertoire. The lefty tactician has continued to carve out a
