The NFC West has a history of having some pretty good quarterbacks who have come through here throughout the years.Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and, of course, Tom Brady have all played in this conference at one point in their careers.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOut of all the conferences in the NFL, this batch of QB’s may be the least known, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a few with potential to be great. Here is the list of the best QB’s in the NFC South. At the beginning of the 2025 season, Baker Mayfield was on his way to an MVP-type season, and the Buccaneers were Super Bowl favorites. Boy, did that change quickly. By the end of the season, the Bucs not only didn’t win the division but also missed the playoffs. The team all but wasted Mayfield’s season, in which he threw for almost 3700 yards and 26 touchdowns. Injuries also impaired Mayfield at the end, which may have cost his team a playoff berth. Still, you have to give Mayfield credit for showing exactly why he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns.Who knew that a benching would bring out the real Bryce Young? Young has said that his being benched his rookie season was the best thing that happened to him because it got him back on track. He played well at the end of his rookie season, which led to him having a great second season. Young passed for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, and he rushed for 216. He also led his team to a division title, a playoff berth, and almost upset the Los Angeles Rams in the opening round of the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if Young is on top of this list next year.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Saints have struggled to find a new starting QB since Drew Brees retired, but finally, after all these years, they may have found their guy in Tyler Shough. After playing musical chairs with their quarterbacks over the past few years, Shough came out on top, throwing for over 2,300 yards and 10 touchdowns. If the Saints put the right personnel around him, who knows how far this team could go?As of now, we have no idea who will be the Atlanta Falcons’ starting quarterback. Last season, Michael Penix started but ended the year on the bench with injuries. In comes Tua Tagovailoa, newly cut from the Miami Dolphins as the backup, or so we thought. Tua might actually take over the starting role to no one’s shock. He is talented and a great passer when healthy. The offensive talent on this Falcons team is some of the best in the league. If they can decide on who their starter will be, don’t be surprised to see them make a run at the division. This article originally appeared on Touchdown Wire: Ranking the best QBs in the NFC South
