Ahead of the summer transfer window opening, Real Madrid are shifting their focus to player exits. After previously confirming Dani Ceballos’ mutual contract termination, the 29-year-old midfielder’s exit may not be the club’s only departure before August ends. With plans to sign Enzo Fernández after the 2026 World Cup, Madrid are expected to balance the books with the sale of a high-profile midfielder, a move anticipated to exceed €100m. Two names have emerged as likely targets for departure: Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
According to The Athletic, Real Madrid would prefer to part ways with Camavinga. His role in Jose Mourinho’s squad has diminished, and he endured a disappointing 2025-26 season marked by poor form and fitness issues at the Bernabéu. Camavinga has made it clear that an exit in 2026 is not on his agenda. Through his agents, he has informed the club that any sale would be “impossible,” insisting he is focused on turning around his situation in Madrid. Despite Madrid’s interest from Liverpool, Camavinga remains adamant about staying.
Consequently, Madrid have begun exploring a potential sale of Tchouameni, who is drawing interest from the Premier League, notably Manchester United and Chelsea. It remains uncertain whether he would want to leave, though there is likely to be less resistance from him compared to Camavinga.
The coming weeks and months will reveal how Madrid navigates the futures of Camavinga and Tchouameni, but the club faces a challenge in moving one of them on.
