RECAP: Full list of 2026 Nexstar Sports Awards winners, Hall of Fame inductees

   ​WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The eighth annual Nexstar Sports Awards and Hall of Fame banquet commenced at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2026, inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum at Midwestern State University. The evening spotlighted the induction of five new members into the Texoma Sports Hall of Fame and honored 21 local athletes, coaches, and teams with awards across multiple categories.
College Coach of the Year went to Michael Meachum, while Kerbie Cash claimed College Female Athlete of the Year, and Parker Plaxco was named College Male Athlete of the Year. In the Large School division, James Moseley earned Large School Coach of the Year, Kennedy Smith was Large School Female Athlete of the Year, and Kingston Gould received Large School Male Athlete of the Year. For Small School honors, Nick Powell was named Small School Coach of the Year, Kenli Atwood as Small School Female Athlete of the Year, and Noah Stohman as Small School Male Athlete of the Year. In the 1A classification, Adrian Daniel was recognized as Class 1A Coach of the Year, Sage Bearden earned Class 1A Female Athlete of the Year, and Keegan Hayes was named Class 1A Male Athlete of the Year.
Team of the Year went to the Midwestern State Mustangs, while Game of the Year featured a showdown between Iowa Park and Mineola. The Play of the Year was “Aye Aye, Captain,” and the Team Spirit Award went to Munday Cheer. Esprit de Corps was awarded to Iowa Park Softball, and the Media Relations MVP honor went to Memorial High School’s Noel Johnson. The Courage Award was presented to Karon Martinson, and the Robert Wilcox Golden Mic Award went to Marty McBride. The Next Level Athlete of the Year was Jacob Rodriguez.
During the 2026 Nexstar Sports Awards, winners in four major categories—Small School Athlete of the Year, Large School Athlete of the Year, College Athlete of the Year, and Class 1A Athlete of the Year—along with one randomly selected Athlete of the Week, received scholarships courtesy of United Regional Orthopedics.
Texoma has long produced some of the most gifted athletes and sports figures, and the Nexstar Sports Awards program continually honors the region’s top talent. Each year, the Texoma Sports Hall of Fame adds new legends to its roster, joining notable figures such as Dallas Cowboys icon Bob Lilly and racing legend Eddie Hill, among others.
The 2026 Texoma Sports Hall of Fame class includes Lawrence Williams (WFHSD), David Nelson (Rider/Petrolia), Leo Baldwin (WFHS), and Don King (Hirschi), in addition to the 2011 Rider Baseball Team. These inductees join a prestigious lineage of local sports luminaries recognized for their outstanding contributions to Texoma athletics.
