Here’s what you need to know today…Michigan trending up with QB targetThe quarterback position is always going to take center stage every recruiting cycle, and Michigan has its eyes set on several passers in the 2028 class. That includes three-star JJ Howard, who recently noted Michigan and SMU are the schools recruiting him the hardest. Those efforts seem to be paying off for the Wolverines.“The schools standing out right now are Michigan, SMU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, BYU, Washington, UCLA and Auburn,” Howard told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “ … I don’t have a dream school, but I’d say Michigan is a big one.”Howard still has two years left of high school, but he has been talking to Michigan’s coaching staff for a while now.“I’ve been having good conversations with them for about a year now, and it’s been good,” Howard told Rivals’ Brandon Huffman ($). “Everything’s been smooth sailing with Michigan. I feel like they’re only going in a better direction.”Right now, Howard doesn’t have a commitment timeline in place. However, it doesn’t sound like the wait will be too much longer.“Honestly, I’m just taking it day by day. I think I have a little idea of what I want to do, where I want to go and stuff like that,” Howard said. “I’d say, honestly, give it about five to six months, maybe even at the end of the season just depending on where I’m at and where I’m at with these other schools and stuff like that.”Four-star DB schedules game day visit to MichiganWith the 2026 season right around the corner, more and more game day visits are being scheduled. Michigan has eight home games this year, so prospects have some great matchups to choose from.As for 2028 four-star defensive back Jackson Parker, he will be attending the Michigan vs Iowa game on Sept. 26, he recently told Rivals’ Brandon Huffman ($). He also has trips to Kansas, Nebraska and Cal on the calendar. So far, Michigan is standing out to Parker as one school that is putting in a lot of effort in his recruitment.“The schools recruiting me the hardest are Kansas, Michigan and UCLA,” Parker said.Once Parker has taken all his official visits, he will be closer to making his college decision.Michigan a stand out school for four-star QBAnother quarterback to watch in the 2028 recruiting class is four-star Tristin Gaines. Gaines is taking a visit to Ann Arbor this fall.“Schools that been really standing out to me are Oregon, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas Tech, Florida,” Gaines told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($). “Those are the main ones that have been consistently talking to me every week, and planning on visiting this fall. Ones I have set up ri
