Here’s what you need to know today…Michigan offers five-star Ohio State commitMichigan is taking a shot at one of Ohio State’s highest ranked commitments in the 2028 class. But there’s an important caveat — 247Sports reports there has been no indication Whyce is currently interested in other programs, so this isn’t a flip watch just yet.Still, Michigan getting involved with a five-star defensive lineman already committed to its biggest rival makes Whyce a name worth monitoring as the Wolverines continue building their 2028 defensive line board. With him being an Ohio native, it’s highly, highly unlikely he flips to the Wolverines, but it’s always worth shooting your shot and seeing where things go.Michigan trending for legacy DB prospectMichigan appears to be in a strong spot for one of its top in-state defensive back targets in the 2028 class. Saline (Mich.) standout Marquis Ray, the No. 624 overall prospect and No. 30 safety in the Rivals Industry Rankings, picked up a Michigan offer this summer and quickly became one of the Wolverines’ more intriguing in-state targets.On3’s Ethan McDowell joined Rivals national insider Allen Trieu in putting in a prediction for Michigan, with McDowell setting his confidence level at 70 percent. Ray earned his offer after camping in Ann Arbor in June.“I’m feeling pumped up,” Ray told McDowell earlier this summer. “I put in the work today, put in the work the whole week, prepared for it and I was satisfied with the outcome. Still have more work to do, but it was a great camp today and I’m satisfied.”Michigan has plenty working in its favor. Ray is a legacy recruit whose father, Marcus, played for the Wolverines, while former Michigan standout Mike Sainristil has become a mentor to him.Ray has already locked in a Sept. 5 visit for the season opener against Western Michigan and could return the following week for Oklahoma.
