Boston opens a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night at Rogers Centre. Although Toronto has had a disappointing season, its scheduled pitching rotation could make this one of the Red Sox’s most challenging series in weeks.The Blue Jays are expected to start Jameson Taillon, Dylan Cease, José Soriano and Max Scherzer across the four games. The right-hander has put himself in the AL Cy Young Award conversation and remains in Toronto despite the club moving several veterans ahead of the trade deadline. Boston will counter with Patrick Sandoval, who has recorded a 3.38 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 24 innings since returning from the elbow injury that ended his 2024 season.Soriano is scheduled to pitch Wednesday after Toronto acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels at the trade deadline. He gives the Blue Jays another hard-throwing option with the ability to generate ground balls and miss bats. Ranger Suárez will start for Boston after posting a 3.32 ERA and a 108-to-30 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 103 innings.The series concludes Thursday afternoon with a marquee matchup between rookie Payton Tolle and three-time Cy Young Award winner Scherzer.
