Happy Sunday, everyone. It’s frustrating that the showrunners chose to pause midseason just as the storyline was heating up. The Red Sox have rattled off wins in 13 of their last 15 games and sit just 0.5 games out of the playoff picture with only one game left before the All-Star break. Today they’ll go for the sweep against the New York Mets, as Payton Tolle takes the mound against Zach Thornton, who is making his third career start. Brayan Bello is back in the mix after taking Danny Coulombe’s spot, though he hasn’t pitched in over a week. I’m curious whether they’ll consider a piggyback approach, with Bello backing up Tolle to help manage the workload, especially with the upcoming break looming. The injury situation has already forced one extra start for Tolle before the break, a development the Red Sox likely wanted to avoid. We’ll have one more chance to wrap up the first half on the air at 1:40 p.m. Eastern, with coverage on NESN and WEEI.
