​BOSTON — With a forecast of a potential Nor’easter due this weekend, the Red Sox — along with Major League Baseball — announced a change of plans to the team’s final home series against the Chicago Cubs.The Sept. 27 game, which was originally scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Sunday, has been moved to Friday, Sept. 25 at 1:05 p.m. as part of a day/night doubleheader, with the second game starting at 6:05 p.m. instead of the original 7:10 p.m. start.That leaves Saturday’s game, which, to date, has yet to be moved.It’s possible that game might have to be played at a neutral site, or even, potentially, Wrigley Field. Forecasts are calling for heavy rain and wind Saturday, Sunday and Monday in New England, which may make it impossible to have that game take place at Fenway.“That’s being talked about, for sure,” said Red Sox manager Chad Tracy on the potential to play the game elsewhere. “Nothing has been said that that’s what’s going to happen. I don’t think we’ll know the answer for that for another couple of days. So, yeah, logistically, it’s a bit of a thing. But I know there are at least conversations around that. I think it’s a Major League schedule and season, and if the games matter, you understand it’s got to be played. Let’s see where it lands.”The Cubs are locked in a three-way logjam with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres to determine playoff seeding for the three wild card entries in the National League. If the Cubs lose both games Friday while the Padres and Phillies win, it remains possible that Game No. 162 won’t impact the standings and might not be played.“It’s a little bit (challenging),” said Tracy. “It puts things in flux in terms of which day (pitchers throw) and things of that nature. Weather tends to do that regardless of when it is.”For now, the Red Sox are unsure of their pitching plans for the weekend.“There’s been conversation going on with the league for days now on what this looks like as we get closer,” said Tracy, “but with (the doubleheader happening), we’ll have to re-talk through ‘What does that look like under this format?’ ”The Red Sox are in the midst of a run of games involving their scheduled starters for the wild card round, with Payton Tolle pitching Tuesday night, Sonny Gray set for Wednesday and Ranger Suarez going in the Cleveland series finale Thursday.That leaves Jake Bennett, Brayan Bello and others as potential starters
