Report: Inter Ready Third Bid For Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are once again preparing to push Liverpool for Curtis Jones, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Serie A champions are readying a third bid after two previous offers were rejected. The evolving Curtis Jones transfer saga now places Liverpool at a familiar crossroads: protect a homegrown asset or acknowledge that the midfielder might seek a clearer pathway elsewhere.
According to the report, Inter have made Jones one of their priority midfield targets and have been pressing to secure a deal since January. Their latest bid, around £21 million, was turned down, and Liverpool’s position has remained resolute. Inter reportedly believe that figure reflects the market, noting that Jones has just 12 months remaining on his current Liverpool contract. Liverpool, however, see things differently.
Central to this story is Liverpool’s valuation. The report claims the club continues to value Jones at a substantially higher £34 million and does not intend to sanction a sale for less than £30 million. That is the critical bracket now, especially with Inter expected to return with an offer in the vicinity of £25 million.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the stance is straightforward. Jones remains a technically gifted option who contributes to homegrown quotas, and there is no immediate pressure to undersell. Even in a market dominated by inflated fees, Liverpool would argue that replacing a player of his profile and depth would not come cheaply.
What gives this update more weight is the player angle. TEAMtalk indicates Jones is “understood to be encouraged by Inter’s persistence” and “open to making the move to the San Siro this summer.” That does not guarantee a transfer, but it does suggest that interest has registered with the midfielder.
The report adds that, while Jones is prepared “to fight for his place under new Liverpool head coach, Andoni Iraola,” he believes his chances of becoming a regular starter would be greater in Milan. That assessment reflects the reality of Liverpool’s midfield competition, where minutes are not guaranteed and opportunities are finite.
Liverpool’s plan regarding a potential replacement is perhaps the most telling part of the update. TEAMtalk indicates the club are “currently comfortable with their midfield options if Jones remains at Anfield” and that “signing another central midfielder is not viewed as a priority.” That stance could shift if Jones leaves. The line of thinking has effectively been distilled: “if Jones goes, Liverpool will sign a new midfielder, but if he stays, they won’t.” It’s a clear internal strategy, suggesting Liverpool are not actively pursuing additions unless late-window developments force a change in course.
In truth, this report reads like Inter trying to buy shrewdly while Liverpool are inclined to respond with measured politeness and patience.
